We feature Dog Training Courses from beginning through advanced levels, taught by Brittany Hartke. She has competed at the national level with her own dogs. We introduce the clicker, the most modern training methods, and emphasize rewards and positive reinforcement.
Designed to develop dog behaviors, modern clicker training is gentle and effective obedience training for your dog. The Clicker is a small plastic box that makes a sharp, clicking sound. Its value is that the unique sound doesn’t get lost in the babble of words we are constantly throwing at our dogs. It is faster than saying “Good dog!” and allows the trainer to mark with great precision the behavior for which the dog is being reinforced. Paired with something the animal finds very reinforcing (such as treats), the clicker becomes a powerful tool for shaping behavior.
Pet Grooming Courses are offered through our grooming shop are geared toward pet owners who wish to take more responsibility for their pets maintenance. Beginning classes teach tools of the trade, how to trim nails and clean ears properly, bathing preparation, shampoos, conditioners and other products, drying and post bath finishing...HANDS ON! The advanced course, provided for those that want to maintain their coats at home, offer an introduction to dog anatomy, coat preparation, safe clipper/scissor use and care, disinfecting and maintenance of tools.
